Nebraska Human Resources Institute (NHRI) is a leadership development program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where outstanding college leaders are paired with outstanding young leaders in Lincoln Public Schools. Announcement about budget cuts to the University and NHRI:

In the Lincoln Journal Star on June 17, 2009, you likely have read that NHRI is slated to be cut in this round of budget reductions at the University. While these cuts will indeed impose a significant challenge to the organization, I want you to know that the Board of Directors and NHRI Staff are pursuing every possible option to ensure the continuation of this 60-year-old program we all hold dear.

Currently, we are pursuing partnerships with various other leadership entities. While NHRI will maintain its work at the University of Nebraska, these partnerships will be an avenue to defray costs and expose NHRI principles to many more students across the State. We will keep you abreast of these partnerships as they unfold.

Even with new partnerships, NHRI will require significant help from its constituents in order to continue operations. An appeal letter will be sent to all friends and alumni of NHRI before the end of the summer. Our goal is to create an endowment that can support this institution in perpetuity. In order to reach this goal, it will take a commitment from every single person who has been touched by this organization's powerful mission.
